## 1. What this tool is

A free, browser-based planning tool for building an outdoor terrace or deck. It is a single-screen application, not a catalogue: the user configures one terrace and the tool calculates everything needed to build it. There is no login and no installation; a configuration can be saved and reopened via a configuration number.

It answers questions such as: how many decking boards do I need for a terrace of this shape, which substructure and joist spacing does the chosen board require, how much offcut will a given laying direction produce, and what does the whole build cost.

The planner is a seven-step accordion. Steps can be revisited at any time; every change recalculates the price, the material list and the cutting plan immediately.

- **Hard surface** (paving, concrete): adjustable pedestals carry the joists.
- **Soft surface** (sand, soil): wooden posts at fixed 80 cm spacing replace the pedestals.
- Slope, individual height points and drainage positions are part of the calculation.

**Does the planner cost anything?**

No. It runs in the browser, is free to use and needs no account. A configuration number lets you save and reopen a design.

**Can I plan a terrace that is not rectangular?**

Yes. Besides rectangles there are L, U, T and O shapes, circles and a completely free-form mode where every edge is drawn individually. Cut-outs and rounded corners are supported.

**Can I use an existing drawing?**

Yes. A floor plan can be uploaded as jpg, png or pdf and traced to scale inside the planner.

**How is the amount of material calculated?**

From the terrace outline, the chosen board dimensions, the laying pattern, the laying direction and the joint width. The tool produces an optimised cutting plan and derives the material list and piece list from it, including substructure, fastenings and accessories.

**How is the substructure determined?**

The selected decking board defines a maximum joist span per load class (200 kPa residential, 500 kPa commercial). The planner applies that span to the terrace geometry and to the site conditions — pedestals on a hard surface, wooden posts at fixed 80 cm spacing on a soft surface.

**What do I get at the end?**
